The key difference between management and delivery

In Uncategorized on July 5, 2011 by Bresser Consulting

There is a central difference between the management task of designing, implementing and optimizing successful coaching programmes on the one hand, and the actual delivery of single coaching interventions as part of the programme on the other hand (e. g. professional 1:1 coaching delivered by coaches /coaching training provided by trainers). This distinction between management and delivery hasn’t long been understood by many companies and most part of the coaching industry itself. While the awareness of the distinction has increased continuously in recent years, a lot of companies still try to implement coaching on the basis of classic HR and coach skills only.

By the ‘Global Business Guide’ (see www.bresser-consulting.com/businessguide.html), we have been able to define the systematic and strategic design, implementation and improvement of coaching programmes in companies as a distinct discipline and presented 7 management tools for the effective planning and realisation of coaching programmes. Receiving the Global HR Excellence Award  2011 at the World HRD Congress this year is a great motivation for us, as it shows us that the attitude is changing and we are obviously hitting a very important point. However, a lot of education and information are still necessary to ensure an optimal management of coaching programmes in organisations.

New global quality initiative 2011 ‘Strategic implementation of coaching programmes in companies’ launched

In Uncategorized on July 5, 2011 by Bresser Consulting

Coaching is one of the fastest growing business phenomena in the world and is increasingly used as a business tool and becoming ingrained into organisational life. However, the practice of the professional design, implementation and optimization of coaching programmes in companies is still in its infancy. Our global market observations show that the average quality of coaching programmes in businesses today is not high – in fact it is low (others’ research findings also confirm this). We can in particular identify the following three critical areas in this regard:

1. Poor qualifications of many implementers
2. Lack of real coaching plans/concepts in companies
3. No or very low strategic integration of coaching programmes

In order to call attention to today’s alarming, low quality of coaching programmes in many companies and at the same time to create positive role models of coaching programmes of excellence, Bresser Consulting has launched the new quality initiative ‘Strategic implementation of coaching programmes in companies’.

By this initiative, we first of all invite implementers of coaching programmes to honestly check to what degree they have the needed coaching implementation skills for their role. We are happy to support this self-check and give recommendations on how to best fill any existing gaps for free by phone. For further information, please contact info@bresser-consulting.com.

Additionally, interested organisations that have what it takes to become an exemplary role model and pioneer regarding the design, implementation and optimization of coaching programmes, are invited and requested to contact us. We are in the process of implementing completely new, 2nd generation coaching programmes of excellence that meet highest quality standards. Companies are welcome to apply (the earlier the better, no later than the end of July). To find out more, please get in touch: info@bresser-consulting.com
